Ease on up to the Far Out Zone. Dig?
So… what is the Far Out Zone?
Honestly, I'm still figuring that out. But the beans being spilled here are the good kind. Something’s growin’ — I'm just not sure what it is exactly. Count on it, it’s bound to be groovy just the same.
Maybe it’s nostalgia for a more civilized time. You know, before things got so... modern. Or maybe it’s something more than that. Only time will tell.
For now, the Far Out Zone is a small corner of cyberspace with one solid on-ramp: The Far Out Zone Books — your pit stop for retro Commodore and Atari programming goodness.
There is even a Download page. It is starting out small with a single game. Hey, we've only just begun. Grab it, fire up your Commodore 64, your emulator, or other close facsimile and join the fun.
Things are still a little bare, but check back now and then. You never know what might spring up.

My hand-drawn logo isn’t much to look at, is it? You might even call it crude. I honestly can’t argue with you if you did, but before you call it ugly, dig on this.
I could have used AI to render a polished image for me. And I would have received something much more visually pleasing in seconds—using no effort of my own. I choose not to do that. Instead I drew my logo by hand even though I’m not much of an illustrator. My Far Out Zone has a crude logo. So be it.
Why would I exert greater effort only to get… well, you can see what I got. It’s not much, but it is mine. I created it with a pencil, a sheet of paper, a little imagination and like I said, effort. The synapses in my brain had to forge ahead and create new pathways where none existed. And now, I am just a little more capable at doing something for myself—using my human faculties. My logo may be crude, but it is purely human (just like this message to you). It has humanity. In a way, its humanity has more beauty than all of the sharp lines, fine proportions and vivid colors that effortless AI could have given me.
Every one reading this has his or her innate talent. Everyone of you is capable of creating so many truly great and wondrous things. I don’t care if this is a painting, music, software, a story, a drawing, or anything else that you desire to bring into the world. And the more you do this for yourself, the better you are going to get.
Am I saying you should abandon AI entirely? No. I’m not. I’m just encouraging you to not forget about your human gift of creation. Exercise it. Refine it. Don’t outsource it to something artificial.
Keep on Truckin’
John
